Strong communities are built through collaboration. In the Northern Shenandoah Valley, few relationships reflect that belief more clearly than the United Way NSV with Our Health.
For years, Our Health and United Way NSV have worked side by side to support nonprofits and service providers. Together, they help care for neighbors every day. By combining United Way’s regional leadership with Our Health’s partner network, this partnership ensures that critical resources reach individuals and families when they need them most.
Leading Together on Giving Tuesday
A cornerstone of the United Way NSV partnership is a shared commitment to collaborative fundraising. As a result, the entire nonprofit community benefits.
In recent years, United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley has led joint Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday campaigns. These efforts bring the community together around one goal: strengthening the local nonprofit ecosystem. Because of this approach, support reaches many organizations at once.
The Community Resiliency Emergency Fund
This past year’s Giving Tuesday initiative focused on the Community Resiliency Emergency Fund. The campaign, led by United Way NSV, provides flexible and immediate support for organizations facing urgent needs across the Valley.
“Emergencies do not wait for budgets or board meetings. Our partners need flexible support to stay operational in moments like this. This fund allows us to respond immediately and keep vital programs running.”— Andy Gail, Chief Executive Officer, United Way NSV
Thanks to the generosity of community members, businesses, and partners, the fund raised $25,418 to support local nonprofits working on the front lines of food security, housing stability, healthcare access, and emergency assistance.
Our Health was proud to stand alongside United Way in amplifying this effort, helping connect donors, partners, and supporters to a fund designed to respond quickly to challenges and strengthen the region’s nonprofit safety net.
Bringing the Community Together on Stage
The partnership continues this spring with a special community fundraiser hosted by United Way of the Northern Shenandoah Valley and Our Health at Winchester Little Theatre.
Supporters are invited to step into an evening of live theatre, history, and connection featuring Decision Height — a powerful WWII-era story honoring the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) and the courage of those who rise together in times of challenge.
The March 12 benefit performance begins with a wine and cheese reception and unfolds into a full evening experience, including a themed photo booth, a WWII-inspired costume contest, a basket raffle, and a live onstage performance. Following the show, guests are invited to stay for an exclusive director talkback, offering behind-the-scenes insight and historical context that brings the story even further to life.
This event reflects how the United Way NSV partnership brings people together to strengthen the nonprofit network and create lasting community impact across the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Why This Partnership Matters
The strength of the United Way NSV partnership lies in its ability to connect people and organizations. Because of this, donors, nonprofits, and neighbors can work toward shared solutions.
At its core, this relationship goes beyond individual events. Instead, it focuses on building a stronger and more connected network of care. United Way brings together businesses, nonprofits, and residents around common priorities. Meanwhile, Our Health connects people to services through a regional partner network. Together, they create pathways for collaboration that extend beyond a single campus or cause.
Join the Effort
Community impact does not happen in isolation. Instead, it grows when people come together around a common purpose. Building connections like the United Way NSV partnership helps strengthen the nonprofits that provide stability, care, and hope throughout the region.
