A Season for Gratitude — and Action
The week after Thanksgiving is always filled with reflection—on what we’re thankful for, and how we can give back to the community that gives us so much. Giving Tuesday 2025 offers that opportunity. It’s a day to turn gratitude into action, generosity into hope, and caring into real, measurable impact.
This year, Our Health is proud to help amplify the Community Resiliency Emergency Fund, created by United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley, to support local nonprofits responding to urgent needs in our community.
When systems stall, this fund ensures help doesn’t. It provides quick, flexible support for food pantries, housing programs, and service organizations working on the frontlines of care.
Meeting Urgent Needs, Strengthening Local Solutions
Over the past month, families across the Northern Shenandoah Valley have felt the effects of the federal shutdown and delayed SNAP benefits, and local food and housing programs continue to see record demand.
That’s where the Community Resiliency Emergency Fund steps in. It delivers fast relief when families face food insecurity, housing instability, or sudden emergencies.
From keeping pantry shelves stocked to ensuring shelters stay open, these resources help nonprofits act quickly when it matters most.
“Emergencies don’t wait for budgets or board meetings,” said Andy Gail, CEO of United Way NSV. “This fund helps us respond immediately and keep vital programs running.”
Giving Tuesday: A Day That Strengthens Every Day
Every gift made this Giving Tuesday—large or small—helps sustain a community network that touches thousands of lives across Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, and Warren Counties, and the City of Winchester.
It’s not just about one day of giving. It’s about strengthening the connections that make our Valley a place of care, stability, and resilience all year long.
“In moments of uncertainty, community is what saves us,” said Sharen Gromling, Executive Director of Our Health. “When we give together, we build the capacity to respond, recover, and care for one another.”

Looking Ahead: Resilience Beyond Tomorrow
Giving Tuesday marks the start of the year-end giving season—but the work it fuels lasts far beyond a single day. Each act of giving strengthens the foundation that allows local nonprofits to respond swiftly and compassionately whenever our community needs them most.
This year, let’s make Giving Tuesday 2025 more than a day on the calendar. Let’s make it a turning point for hope, connection, and resilience across the Northern Shenandoah Valley.
